Position Summary/Overview:
The Database Administrator position is a highly analytical and highly hands-on position providing: enterprise database administration, standardization, database operations enhancements and technical control over key data resources. This position reports to the Vice President of Operations and Infrastructure & Chief Security Officer. The person in this position will provide technical expertise and leadership across all levels of both technical and non-technical components. The position will require hands on design, implementation, deployment, and ongoing management of various OLTP and OLAP and SharePoint database solutions, as well as emerging technologies across the organization.
Responsibilities:
- Design and implement database administration standards to include: security, standardization, availability/fault-tolerance, monitoring/alerting, and performance optimization
- Establish and execute protocols for review and enhancement of database infrastructure
- Mentor team members in evolving SQL Server best practice
- Act as a Lead DBA in fulfilling audit and regulator requests for information, including participation in discussions with auditors and regulators regarding best practices and security recommendations
- Assess, mitigate and manage ongoing continuous database infrastructure vulnerability enhancements at both the software and configuration levels, as well as run ongoing database infrastructure vulnerability analysis and remediation
- Develop, maintain, and report regularly on key metrics in the areas of database security, standardization, availability, and performance
- Research, test, and implement new technologies and best-practices and drive innovation with regards to database infrastructure
- Participate in a 24x7x365 on-call rotation
Education & Experience:
- BA or BS degree in a Technical discipline or equivalent training and experience
- Other relevant industry certifications are a plus
- 5 to 7 years of Microsoft SQL Server database management and administration experience
- Extensive hands-on installation and management of large, complex SQL Server database environments. Direct experience with SQL Server 2019 and above is expected
- Experience with SQL Encryption methodologies (at-rest, table-level, etc.)
- Experience with SQL policy management
- Experience with SQL fault-tolerance options, both intra-datacenter and multi-site
- Experience with Oracle RAC is a plus
- Experience with JDE Financial Application Suite and DB2 is a plus
- Knowledge of Red Hat Linus OS a plus
- Strong attention to detail, consistently defining, applying and documenting standard configuration and security templates to all assigned environments
- Strong, demonstrated database design and deployment experience in both OLTP and OLAP environments
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server solution stack (RDBMS, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, TSQL)
- Working knowledge of Microsoft OS platform technologies (Windows Server 2008R2 and above)
- Strong sense of personal accountability and responsibility for the security and reliability of managed areas of responsibility
- Willingness to engage and explore new solutions and emerging technologies in support of new opportunities
- Possess strong problem-solving skills and a solid understanding of how to quickly troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues that involve database infrastructure
- Ability to mentor co-workers in areas of technical expertise
