Job Abstract
Our client is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to join their executive management team. The Chief Technology Officer will quickly learn and directly contribute to the growth of our client’s business at an executive level. They will partner with their business counterparts and drive business improvements through technological innovation.
The ideal individual will be forward thinking, dynamic, and capable of nurturing ideas from concept to delivery. They feel comfortable communicating at every level in the organization and being an active participant in both business and technology discussions.
We are looking for an individual with strong leadership experience maturing IT from doing break/fix and empowering users to providing enterprise-wide solutions. As part of this transformation, they must be able to create, explain, develop, and implement a holistic vision and strategy for IT.
The right individual must learn the business and welcome the opportunity to listen to a client call or actively engage in “town hall” meetings throughout the organization on technology issues. They are equally excited about debating the merits of AI as brainstorming how to improve staff productivity. They clearly articulate, in non-tech speak, options for delivering user requests and have their own opinion as to the best method.
The Chief Technology Officer must have strong people management skills with direct experience in managing successful IT delivery organizations. They will possess excellent talent management skills having successfully implemented a scalable IT organization capable of leveraging external resources where needed. They will motivate, lead by example, and be the champion of IT and IT staff.
This person will have a proven track record in making difficult, cost-conscious technical investments while advancing the technological portfolio of the organization. This person needs the technical knowledge to understand proposals and be willing to challenge (when needed) vendors and staff.
Administrative functions of this position include managing the budget, staff management, planning the utilization of resources, and playing an active role in planning the technical direction of the IT development and database environment for the next 2 – 5 years. This individual must be able to identify gaps in methodologies to provide continuous improvement, efficiencies, and “Lessons Learned” within the team.
