MQ Engineer

As the MQ Engineer, you will work with Application Stakeholders in evolving/migrating Enterprise Messaging systems deployed across a distributed Linux platform /IBM p-Series, including MQ Appliance, Linux, and Mainframe to Red Hat Enterprise Linux. No Mainframe engineering work is required; only to coordinate changes with the mainframe team. You will work with several technologies and teams to understand current configurations and engineer how they will migrate to Red Hat Enterprise Linux using new standards in maintaining robust and scalable messaging solutions.
Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for design, development and operationalization of enterprise scale messaging solutions.
  • Technical hands-on engineering and management of IBM MQ or other messaging products.
  • Troubleshoot and debug complex issues, in an often pressurized environment, in a timely manner.
  • Writing utility tools to help automate repetitive tasks.
  • Maintain, review and enhance standards and procedures.
  • Maintain, review and enhance documentation, both internal team and for our clients
  • Create reports and presentations for audit, senior management or our clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Significant Messaging Infrastructure engineering and/or development experience, MQ preferred.
  • Significant experience in scripting or coding to create tools to automate common tasks.
  • Knowledge of IIB and Mulesoft
  • Good and demonstrable understanding of operating systems, Linux or Windows and Networks.
  • Good understanding of building resilience and scalability into solutions.
  • Good understanding of building, deploying, and maintaining services in a distributed environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn and POC new frameworks, environments, and technologies
  • Experience of developing a monitoring strategy for an Enterprise Messaging system.
  • Experience of developing a capacity management process for an Enterprise Messaging system.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to be an outstanding team player
