Technical Facilities Program Manager

Position Summary/Overview

The Technical Facilities Program Manager is responsible for providing technical project management for all real-estate initiatives, including new buildings, floors, expansions, remodeling, relocations, and critical space (i.e., IDF, MDF, data centers) build-outs. The primary function of this role is to act as a senior liaison between the Real Estate team, Information Technologies employees, and external subcontractors.

This role ensures IT does not impact critical and costly real estate projects due to IT’s competing priorities. The Technical Facilities Program Manager takes responsibility for communication with, and project management of, IT vendors participating in construction projects. Project risk is reduced and mitigated through active participation in construction meetings.

For IT, construction projects can be opportunities for “R&D.” This can be in conflict with meeting project deliverables and budgets. Skilled in IT technologies, the Technical Facilities Program Manager maintains the balance between innovation and predictable deliverables.

The Technical Facilities Program manager works directly with IT Managers and will escalate to the CIO when necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate Information Technologies resources across all construction projects. These include internal support teams (i.e., Network Services, AV support, and Client Technology Services), outsourced vendors, and consultants.
  • Develop and track financial projections and reports to help guide senior IT management, members of the Real Estate group, and the Finance department
  • Manage project documentation, agreements, and contracts
  • Present project scope, implementation plans, and project schedules to IT project teams
  • Manage project timelines, deliverables, and systems requirements and report on project progress to senior IT management
  • Liaise with other groups across the organization on all IT-related issues
  • Represent IT and actively participate in multi-discipline global construction meetings as it relates to the technical infrastructure build-out of new or expanded space
  • Develop standards and best practices for use across multiple projects

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible experience in technical facilities planning and management including at least 5 years in a management capacity.
  • Experience with construction and relocation and data center buildouts and relocations
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings and blueprints.
  • Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to technical facilities planning, design, construction and maintenance.
  • Knowledge and experience with budgeting, cost estimating, and fiscal management for projects of this nature and scope.
  • Ability to plan and direct a centralized, multi-team effort of IT employees and contractors
  • Must be able to handle multiple projects at one time; manage vendors effectively and be responsive to clients in a timely manner.
